Why I Believe in Positive Dog Training

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of positivity—not just in life, but especially in the way we train and communicate with our dogs. Over the years, I have personally witnessed the transformative, often life-saving impact that positive reinforcement training can have. It builds confidence, fosters trust, and strengthens the bond between humans and their canine companions.

Dogs thrive when treated with kindness and respect. Unlike punishment-based methods, positive training teaches desired behaviors in a way that builds a dog's willingness and enthusiasm to learn. I would be honored to help you discover just how much your dog is capable of, and how strong and joyful the relationship between you and your pet can become.

To me, a dog is one of the purest examples of unconditional love—creatures who often love us more than they love themselves. My mission is to deepen the understanding between dogs and their humans and to help both build a lifelong bond rooted in mutual trust, compassion, and joy. I bring over five years of professional dog training experience to every session, along with a deep commitment to each individual dog and owner I work with.

My Story

I was born and raised in North Carolina, where I developed a strong sense of family and a lifelong passion for animals. I am happily married and have spent years building a career centered on animal care and education. My background includes work as a professional dog groomer, a manager of a dog boarding facility, a wildlife photographer, and an aquatic specialist at a science center where I cared for large marine mammals and aquatic life.

I’m currently pursuing further studies in animal science to deepen my understanding of animal behavior, physiology, and communication. This continual learning helps me bring the most up-to-date and compassionate training methods to my clients and their pets.

My fascination with dogs began at the age of three, sparked by the incredible story of the 1925 serum run to Nome, Alaska. This historic event, now commemorated by the legendary Iditarod race, was made possible by heroic sled dogs like Togo and Balto, who traversed over 600 miles through the Arctic to deliver life-saving medicine. Their bravery and spirit continue to inspire me and fuel my dedication to dogs.

At home, I’m lucky to share my life with four incredible dogs—Harley, Wicket, Stella, and Ruka—each of whom holds a special place in my heart. I also have a beloved black cat named Zyhe. Every day, they remind me of the deep soul connections we can form with our animals.

I dedicate my journey and every success to the memory of my late dog, Merlin. His passing ignited in me a profound desire to understand dog psychology on a deeper level. It’s because of Merlin that I pursued professional training and found my life’s calling.
